Dalton (Patrick Swayze) is the best, most level-headed cooler around. He's a legend among bouncers, club owners, and most of all, his enemies. In Jasper, Missouri, he's called upon to flip the Double Deuce, the meanest bar in town, into a desirable destination for jukebox jumpers and traveling bands. But some people like it just the way it is there, and Dalton puts his philosophy degree and his muscles to use to persuade his new antagonists to accept the winds of change. With friends Cody (Jeff Healey), Wade (Sam Elliott), and the dreamy Dr. Clay (Kelly Lynch) by his side, Dalton faces his biggest challenge yet in the form of cutthroat local big shot, Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara).

The cast performed most of their own stunts, and pretty much all of what you see on screen is as real as you can get, thanks to the training of kickboxer Benny “the Jet” Urquidez. Released in 1989, ROAD HOUSE feels just as ill-advised and dangerous as your top-shelf ’70s beat-em-up, which makes its achievements in stunt work all the more exciting.

The Friday, July 21st and Saturday, July 22nd showings will be presented by Kung Fu Clubhouse, featuring exclusive pre-shows of fun martial arts clips!

“This is the first movie in a long time to use the line, ‘Prepare to die!’ And how long has it been since the same movie contained a) a dash into an exploding building to save an occupant; b) a rock ‘n’ roll band protected by a Plexiglas shield; c) goons who line up for instructions and call the bad guy ‘boss’; d) a lecture on the fine points of bouncing; e) a sexy woman doctor who goes all the way on the first date, and f) random quotations from the great Western philosophers?” Roger Ebert

“Mindless entertainment of the highest order.” Nigel Floyd, Time Out
