Cleopatra Jones (Tamara Dobson), an undercover agent for the US government, is charged with overseeing the destruction of a poppy field in Turkey. But drug lord Mommy (Shelley Winters) plots revenge in LA when she learns of this and orders a police officer in her employ to raid Jones's lover Reuben's (Bernie Casey) community home for recovering addicts. When Jones returns, Mommy is in her crosshairs as Cleopatra aims to take her entire operation down. With her special-armed 1973 Stingray, martial arts mastery, and government influence, she's all she needs to wipe out corruption where she sees it.

Part James Bond send-up and part action comedy with a focus on martial arts, CLEOPATRA JONES features Dobson in her best role with an unquestionable and unchallenged autonomy that goes beyond feminist arguments. Released as a response to SHAFT, CLEOPATRA JONES is a righteous good time at the movies.

“Tamara Dobson, a former fashion model, makes her acting debut as the beautiful undercover agent, and Shelley Winters contributes more than her customary share of grotesquerie in a shrill cameo as a lesbian gang leader. Better than average.” Don Druker, Chicago Reader

“The idea is to string together scenes that entertain, and Cleopatra Jones does that nicely.” Roger Ebert

Cleopatra Jones is a blaxploitation movie that goes above and beyond the call of duty. It has all the funk, swagger and aspirational badassness that you hope for in the genre, but even more heightened… I love this movie! I wish there were four or five of them.” Vern, outlawvern.com
